Haribo Pontefract Cakes
Soft, Chewy Liquorice Discs from Pontefract, West Yorkshire
Haribo Pontefract Cakes are small, glossy black liquorice discs with a soft, yielding chew and a rich, treacly liquorice flavour. They are made by HARIBO in Pontefract itself, the Yorkshire town that gave these sweets their name, where the company has been making liquorice since it took over the local Dunhills works in 1972. Flavoured with real liquorice extract (4.5%) and made without artificial colours, they are a softer, sweeter alternative to the firmer, old-style cakes.
We pack Haribo Pontefract Cakes into a 150g bag, so you can enjoy a proper handful of Yorkshire liquorice or add them to an order alongside your favourite cables, buttons and mixed bags.

The Story of Haribo Pontefract Cakes
Liquorice has been grown and processed around Pontefract for centuries, and by the 1700s local makers were pressing liquorice paste into small round โcakesโ, each stamped by hand. Dozens of liquorice works once operated in the town. Today HARIBO is one of the last makers still producing Pontefract cakes there, and the company is a regular supporter of the townโs annual Liquorice Festival.
