Description

Spanish Sweet Liquorice is a traditional black liquorice stick from Spain.

Even as far back as 1932, the New Standard Encyclopaedia informed its readers that liquorice came from Calabria (The southernmost province of Italy) and Spain but also from Pontefract in West Yorkshire. The production of liquorice confectionery in Yorkshire had outstripped the locally grown liquorice crops as early as the turn of the century. As a result, the burgeoning industry had to import liquorice roots and extract from Spain and Italy.

Although grown in the UK, most of it was and still is imported from Spain; hence it was referred to as Spanish or Spanish wood. Liquorice plants love sunshine, and the conditions are perfect for their happy growth in Spain.

This delicious, classic Spanish sweet has a rich, intense flavour that will appeal to any liquorice fan worldwide. Imported directly from sunny Spain, this is the perfect sweet snack to enjoy anytime!
