Bagsværd Sød (Sweet) represents the pinnacle of Danish liquorice craftsmanship. This is a handmade sweet liquorice caramel, and liquorice at its absolute finest – rich, indulgent, and utterly compelling.
The Sød has a slightly firmer texture than the other Bagsværd flavours, thanks to the extra sugar in the recipe. The result is an almost treacle-like sweetness that pairs beautifully with a strong, deep liquorice flavour. It’s an exceptional balance – the caramel doesn’t mask the liquorice, it elevates it.
Introduced in 2018, Sød was initially created to cater to countries less accustomed to salmiak. But the Danes had other ideas – it quickly became a top seller in Denmark as well, winning over even the most dedicated salmiak enthusiasts with its rich, approachable character.
Each 160g slab arrives ready to be cut with a knife, letting you choose your own portion size. Slice it thinly for a refined taste, or cut generous chunks for a proper indulgence.

Founded in 2015 by fellow liquorice enthusiasts (and chemical engineers) Søren Beier and Morten Kornbech, alongside Chef Rasmus Hansen in the town of Bagsværd, Denmark, Bagsværd Lakrids quickly gained a reputation for the exceptional quality of their rich handmade liquorice caramels. They are now widely recognised as producing the world’s finest liquorice confectionery.
Their credentials speak volumes: GOLD winners at the Danish Liquorice Taste Award in 2020 (previous winners include the renowned Lakrids by Bulow), Bronze in 2019, and Silver in 2018. All Bagsværd products contain at least 5% raw liquorice, ensuring authentic liquorice depth in every bite.
